Day 5 | Rome – (Rome Icons & Vatican Tour) – (New Year's Special Rome Night Tour)

After breakfast, we offer a full day of free time. Guests who wish may join our extra organized Rome Icons & Vatican Tour (80 Euro). In our tour, we first introduce you to Urbs aput mundi, meaning "the city in the center of the world," taking you on a historical journey through buildings of different styles ranging from antiquity to the Renaissance, which present themselves to you with their art, history, music, shopping, sunshine, and food. While masterpieces created by architects competing with each other attract thousands of tourists to the city every season, Rome manages to carry even these crowds without suffocating the visitor, maintaining all its beauty and aesthetics. In our tour, we visit Rome, the imperial city that has shaped Western Civilization and witnessed 23 centuries of history. We will see the Colosseum, an ancient theater that became the symbol of the city and hosted gladiator fights throughout the Roman Empire; the Roman Forum, the ceremonial center of the city during the imperial era; the Fountain of Love, believed to be the place where those who throw coins will return to Rome; the Spanish Steps, famous for street artists; and the panoramic views of Piazza Pietra and Piazza del Popolo. After the provided short free time, we start our tour by visiting Castel Sant'Angelo – Angel Castle and Piazza Navona. We visit Vatican City / San Pietro, the center of the Catholic branch of Christianity and the smallest country in the world by area. We provide free time in St. Peter's Square (Piazza San Pietro), where thousands of Catholics gather for worship every year and where the Pope appears to greet the public on special occasions. Here stands St. Peter's Basilica, the largest cathedral in the world, adorned with statues of 140 saints. After the provided free time, we return to our hotel in the Rome area. Upon arrival at the hotel, we offer free time to rest. Within this free time, guests who wish may join our extra organized New Year's Special Rome Night Tour (35 Euro). Our tour, starting panoramically, will allow us to discover Rome's streets at any hour of the day accompanied by the aesthetic beauty added by evening lights. We will provide free time at the world-famous Navona Square and Pantheon. During this free time, you can taste exquisite examples of traditional Italian pasta at many cafes around, especially Cacio e Pepe (a famous Roman pasta dish prepared with Pecorino Romano cheese and freshly ground black pepper), which is considered the symbol of Rome. For guests preferring a light snack, we recommend Supplì filled with mozzarella, and for dessert lovers, Maritozzo, a creamy treat specific to Rome, in which Romans hide a ring to propose marriage. At the end of the tour, we arrive at our hotel in the Rome area.
