Overseas New Year Tours 2027: Visa Required or Visa-Free?

For those wanting to ring in the New Year in another city, the first question is usually “where?” But the choice really comes down to three things: which countries your passport lets you enter visa-free, which city you want to depart from, and how many days you can set aside. In this article, we’ve grouped our international New Year tours according to these three questions.

Start with the visa: this is where the decision begins

Most New Year tours depart between December 26 and 31, 2026. If you choose a route that requires a Schengen or UK visa, you need to start your visa application along with your booking; appointment availability and processing times vary by country. If you don’t have a visa and don’t want to deal with the time involved, visa-free routes make things easier.

If you have a special (green) passport, things are different: many of our European tours are marked on the site as “Visa-Free for Green Passport Holders.” You can find the full list on the visa-free tours for green passport holders page.

New Year routes that don’t require a visa

Here are some of the New Year itineraries on our site marked “visa not required”:

The Balkans are also in this group: Belgrade, Budva, and Skopje-Ohrid itineraries depart on December 30–31. For other options, see the visa-free tours page. We’ve compiled all the visa-free routes in our visa-free New Year tours article.

Classics that require a Schengen visa

Most of the cities that come to mind when you think of New Year are in this group. Their illuminated squares and the opportunity to visit several cities over short distances make these routes stand out.

A note for anyone considering London: the London and Royal Palaces Tour doesn’t require a Schengen visa, but it does require a UK visa. You must submit a separate application even if you have a Schengen visa.

New Year tours departing directly from Ankara

For residents of Ankara, connections add to both travel time and fatigue. New Year itineraries among our tours departing from Ankara include:

You can find all international itineraries departing from Ankara in our international New Year tours departing from Ankara article.

How many nights should you set aside?

The itineraries fall into three groups. Tours lasting 3 nights and 4 days depart between December 29 and 31; they’re ideal for those who want to ring in the New Year abroad while taking the least time off work. Programs lasting 4–5 nights take you through a region rather than just one city. Tours lasting 6 nights or more (Morocco, Thailand, Benelux) depart between December 26 and 29, with New Year’s Eve falling in the middle of the trip.

Prices

Examples of starting prices per person shown on our site as of October 8, 2026: Ankara-departing Christmas Markets tour €549, Dream Triangle and Barcelona tours €599, Prague, City of Bridges tour €649, Ankara-departing Amsterdam tour €699, Kingdom of Morocco and the Sahara Desert tour €999. Prices may change; current prices and included services are listed on each tour’s page.
